Deciding What to Build

Our Product Development Criteria

We only build products if and only if:

  • It aligns with our mission
  • It does not violate any of our values

Our Decision-Making Process

When considering new products or features, we follow a structured decision-making process that helps us focus our limited resources on initiatives that will have the greatest impact:

  1. Identify customer needs

We start by listening to our customers and identifying their pain points, challenges, and aspirations. We look for patterns and common themes that suggest opportunities for new products or improvements.

  2. Evaluate alignment with mission and values

We assess whether addressing these needs aligns with our mission of helping Indonesians invest for the long term and whether doing so would be consistent with our values.

  3. Assess feasibility and impact

We evaluate whether we have the capabilities and resources to build a solution that would truly address the identified needs, and we estimate the potential impact on our customers and our business.

  4. Start small

Rather than committing to large, risky initiatives, we prefer to start with small experiments that allow us to test our assumptions and learn quickly. This approach helps us minimize risk and maximize learning.

  5. Iterate based on feedback

Once we've launched a minimal version of a product or feature, we gather feedback from users and iterate accordingly. This helps us refine our understanding of customer needs and improve our solutions over time.

Saying No

An important part of our product development process is knowing when to say no. We recognize that we can't pursue every opportunity, and that trying to do too much can lead to mediocre results across the board. Therefore, we're disciplined about focusing on initiatives that:

  • Serve our target customers well
  • Play to our strengths and expertise
  • Have the potential for significant impact
  • Can be executed with excellence given our resources

By being selective about what we build, we can ensure that we're delivering high-quality products that truly meet our customers' needs and advance our mission.
